The Sports NetworkDetroit, MI (Sports Network) - Jason Calliste scored a game-high 16 points, leading five players in double figures, as the Detroit Titans posted a 76-65 win over the Butler Bulldogs in Horizon League action at Calihan Hall.
Chase Simon accounted for 15 points for the Titans (8-10, 2-4 HL), Ray McCallum delivered 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds, followed by Donavan Foster and Doug Anderson with 11 and 10 points, respectively, as Detroit won for the second time in the last three outings.
The Bulldogs (9-8, 3-2) were led by Ronald Nored who tallied 13 points, while Khyle Marshall contributed another 11 points off the bench as the visitors had a four-game win streak snapped.
Detroit scored the first points of the afternoon and never looked back, but in the first half it was more a case of the Bulldogs having their own issues with just 35.5 percent shooting from the floor that allowed the hosts to post a 38-26 lead at the break.
In the second half the Titans knocked down a sizzling 61.9 percent from the floor, including 5-of-9 behind the three-point line, on their way to the double-digit victory.
The most telling stat in the contest was that Butler had been outscored at the free-throw line by a 17-6 margin.
